Kariza Indonesia Championship
Features ASEAN’s Star Players
The best golfers in South East Asian countries such as the champion of 2005 Indonesia Open from Thailand, Thaworn Wiratchant, the winner of 2007 Pertamina Indonesia President Invitational, Juvic Pagunsan from The Philippines , Artemio Murakami from The Philippines , the winner of 2007 Johor Open , the champion of 2004 Royal Challenge Indian Open from Singapore, Mardan Mamat as well as the other star players are being confirmed to be in Indonesia and compete with at least 60 players from the PGPI Tour Order Of Merit in the Mercedes-Benz Tour series, KARIZA INDONESIA CHAMPIONSHIP . The event is organized by PT. KARIZA VIRATAMA and supported by MERCEDES-BENZ and WORLD SPORT GROUP.
This US$ 50,000 event is sanctioned by ASEAN PGA and Golf Professional Indonesia ( PGPI ) and will take place at Gading Raya Padang Golf & Klub on May 5-8 , 2010.
Engraving a successful RP Invitational as one of the local tour with the biggest prize money within the last two years, the Organizing Chairman who is also the President Director of PT. Kariza Viratama, Ria Prawiro, is confident that what she and KARIZA team are doing can awaken the competing atmosphere of golf in the country and at the same time , give a wider opportunity to local touring pros to be |
able to demonstrate their best preformance in competing with their fellow star players in South East Asia.
This tour series is the third of ten Mercedes-Benz Tour series that has been scheduled this season. The last series ( Tour Championship ) will also be staged in Indonesia next October , entitled Mercedes-Benz Masters Indonesia, at Emeralda Golf Club.
“ We cannot always hope a prestige of our touring pro from their participation in Mercedes-Benz Tour series abroad. I do understand about it. It needs millions of Rupiah to be able to participate in just one series, and more or less that gives a burden to our touring pros, especially to them who have no sponsors. In reality, we all know that our touring pros’ skill is no less than the other Asian champion, it’s just a matter of opportunity “said Ria Prawiro .
Kariza’s plan was well accepted by Gading Raya Padang Golf & Klub who generously agreed to fully support Kariza Indonesia Championship as the host venue.
“It is our great delight to support Ms. Ria Prawiro and Kariza in encouraging the Indonesian professional golfers to achieve the best prestige in the international field. And I know that this is also a hope for our golf community.
