A New Position for David Parkin

Later it was found out that David Parkin’s presence at that biggest golf event in Indonesia was on purpose as he was assigned as the rules committee . His name was being projected to hold a major position as the Director of Tour Operations for that new sanctioning body in Asia Pacific.

It is no surprise to see David Parkin in a golf tournament in Indonesia. This big sturdy white man is often involved in some international tour series in the country. His most recent position was at Kariza Indonesia Championship when he was entrusted the Tournament Director by the Organizing Chairman, Ria Prawiro.

David was known to hold an important position in Asian Tour and used to be responsible in running the operation and administration of some important tour series under the supervision of that prominent sanctioning body.

Some people who knew him was wondering when they saw David Parkin made a round riding the official golf cart at The Indonesia Open Presented By Enjoy Jakarta that this year was sanctioned by OneAsia Tour. In a brief meeting with David, The Flag asked him about his involvement in the OneAsia Tour tour series He did not give a significant answer to that question , only his friendly gesture that was always be David’s.

“Just make a round,” he said , smiling and waved his hand from the golf cart.

“ We will announce a press release about his new position at OneAsia Tour soon. Effectively, David Parkin will start his new job next September. When will be the precise time , just wait for our press release,” explained a staff of OneAsia.

In spite of the actual information, David Parkin’s reputation was surely worth the position he was going to be in charge of. His contribution and participation in the world class golf championship was well known. He had been involved in the tour operation of 13 Major Championships , twice at US Masters and US Open Championship, nine times at The Open Championship (British Open) and five times at “non-major” tour, World Golf Championship (WGC).

One thing that is still being David’s ambition that has not been accomplished is to build an Academy for Rules Official in Asian region. It might be fulfilled easily through his new job as his name is known in Asian golf community.

Besides, it would not surprise many to know David is enjoying his work in Asian golf industry as this British man is married to an Indonesian woman from Brebes, Central Java.
